The crowd was ecstatic at Labor HQ as ABC’s Antony Green announced that Anthony Albanese had secured a second term as prime minister.
At Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club, in Sydney’s Inner West, Albanese addressed hundreds of supporters.
“Serving as your Prime Minister is the greatest honour of my life,” he said.
“And it is with a deep sense of humility and a profound sense of responsibility that the first thing that I do tonight is is to say thank you to the people of Australia for the chance to continue to serve the best nation on Earth.”
