Bus services in Western Sydney are unpredictable and neglected compared to the city’s other suburbs, according to research and complaints from local commuters.
In February the NSW Bus Industry taskforce found 235 bus routes in Sydney failed to meet “minimum service standards”, with the majority of Western Sydney routes not passing muster.
The state government has since promised to invest $24.7 million to increase bus frequency over the next four years in Western Sydney suburbs such as Penrith, Blacktown and Riverstone, but locals say routes are still underserved and they are yet to see much improvement.
