When small-time drug dealer Warren Lanfranchi was shot dead by police detective Roger Rogerson in 1981, the course of Sydney’s criminal history changed in an instant. Two teenage witnesses bravely came forward with evidence that cast doubt on Rogerson’s version of events, arguably starting a process that would unravel years of crime and corruption.

Central News speaks with those two witnesses, Mary McElhone and Jane Healy, who reflect on police intimidation, teenage naivety, and the fragility of memory.
